HOUSE for a MOVIE ACTOR Michigan
Cinema House is a home for an Actor Film Maker and his family. The home approximately 3500 square feet and located on the beaches of Michigan. The family requested the home be divided into three parts: social living spaces, private sleeping spaces, and the cinema screening hall. The living space is extraverted with its projecting cantilevered ceiling canopy. The private sleeping spaces are in a very tight solid cube with strategically placed window openings. Finally, the cinema hall is the great sweeping space. The three parts make up an “L” shaped plan with the private spaces at the corner of the “L”. The radial lines in the plan and section are a product of the contour lines of the site, the idea of a film reel, and the acoustical requirements of the ceiling of the hall. The house was to be white, stucco structured mainly with masonry units. Its whiteness was to be the perfect clean backdrop for the future garden in open quadrant of the site.
